N’Djamena hosts launch of World Vision Tchad’s transformative 2026-2030 roadmap

World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, setting a bold vision to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the country by the end of the decade. The initiative was officially launched during a high-level press briefing held in N’Djamena, bringing together journalists, technical and financial partners, and national authorities at the city’s Residence Hotel.

An integrated approach to break cycles of vulnerability

The new strategy is built on a unified framework that merges humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding—an approach known as the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This model is designed to address the root causes of poverty and insecurity that continue to affect children and families in Tchad. By integrating emergency response with long-term development and community resilience, World Vision aims to create lasting change rather than temporary relief.

Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for West Africa at World Vision, described the strategy as « groundbreaking and forward-looking ». She emphasized that every child in Tchad deserves the opportunity to thrive, not just survive. « This vision is achievable through strong partnerships, deep community engagement, and a commitment to honoring local cultures and spiritual values, » she stated during the event.

Denizard highlighted the immense challenges facing the region, including widespread insecurity, deep-rooted poverty, environmental degradation, and large-scale population displacements. She pointed out that these issues disproportionately impact children, making targeted, multi-sector interventions essential. The strategy aligns with continental and global development agendas, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16).

Priorities that target the most vulnerable

Under the new roadmap, World Vision Tchad will focus on key areas to maximize impact: maternal and child health, integrated nutrition programs, early childhood literacy through the Unlock Literacy initiative, child protection from violence and exploitation, and climate resilience for communities. The organization aims to reach 3.09 million of the most vulnerable children by 2030—a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a « historic milestone » for both the organization and the future of Tchad’s children. « Our goal is simple: every child in Tchad should be safe, well-nourished, educated, and able to dream of a better future, » he said. He acknowledged the country’s persistent struggles with extreme poverty, malnutrition, recurrent humanitarian crises, and climate-related shocks, noting that nearly 42% of the population lives below the poverty line.

Ngoy Wangoy stressed that the strategy’s success depends on collective action. He urged public authorities, development partners, civil society, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to collaborate closely. « Only by working together can we turn today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for Tchad’s children, » he emphasized.

A call to collective action for a brighter future

Following the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a strong appeal to all stakeholders. They called for unified efforts to ensure the strategy’s effective implementation, emphasizing that no single actor can achieve such transformative change alone. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s Vision 2030 and contributing to the achievement of the SDGs, with the ultimate aim of building a nation where all children can grow up in dignity and safety.
