N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled an ambitious five-year strategy aimed at transforming the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The initiative, launched during a high-profile press conference in early July, represents the organization’s most sweeping commitment yet to address the urgent needs of vulnerable youth in the region.

The new 2026–2030 roadmap is built on an integrated approach that merges humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding. By leveraging partnerships with government agencies, technical experts, and local communities, World Vision Tchad is positioning itself to deliver lasting impact where it matters most: in the health, nutrition, education, and protection of children facing extreme hardship.

The strategy is anchored in several critical areas:
- health and nutrition: expanding access to maternal and child health services, combating malnutrition, and integrating nutrition-sensitive programs into local health systems.
- education and literacy: scaling the Unlock Literacy program to improve foundational reading skills among young learners, ensuring no child is left behind in early education.
- child protection: strengthening systems to shield children from violence, exploitation, and abuse, with a focus on community-based safeguarding.
- climate resilience: empowering communities to adapt to environmental challenges through sustainable agriculture, water management, and disaster preparedness initiatives.

The framework is designed to complement Chad’s Vision 2030 and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16). It reflects a deep understanding of the country’s most pressing challenges—persistent poverty, climate vulnerabilities, and ongoing humanitarian pressures—while offering a clear path forward. Nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line, underscoring the urgency of these interventions.

Speaking at the launch, the Regional Director for World Vision West Africa, Carla Dominique Denizard, emphasized the transformative potential of the strategy. “Every child in Chad deserves not just to survive, but to thrive,” she stated. “This plan is bold because the challenges we face are bold. It demands collaboration—between governments, donors, civil society, faith leaders, and the media—to turn today’s crises into tomorrow’s opportunities.”
The strategy’s launch in N’Djamena drew participation from national authorities, development partners, and media representatives, all underscoring the shared responsibility to prioritize child welfare. World Vision Tchad’s leadership has framed this as a “historic moment,” marking a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles. The goal is clear: reach 3.29 million children by 2030, with 3.09 million of them among the most vulnerable.
As the organization moves forward, it is calling on all stakeholders to join forces in building a future where every child in Chad is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
