World vision Tchad unveils bold 2030 strategy for child welfare

N’Djamena — World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, designed to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The launch, held during a high-level press conference on July 9, 2026, brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities at the N’Djamena Résidence Hotel.

a transformative roadmap for vulnerable children

The new strategy targets 3.09 million of the most vulnerable children, focusing on critical areas such as health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience. By integrating humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding under the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus framework, World Vision Tchad aims to address the root causes of child vulnerability while delivering immediate relief where needed most.

During the launch event, Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for West Africa, emphasized the strategy’s innovative approach. “This is not just about survival—it’s about giving every child in Chad the opportunity to thrive,” she stated. She highlighted the region’s persistent challenges, including insecurity, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and large-scale population displacements, all of which disproportionately affect children.

aligning with continental and global goals

The strategy is meticulously aligned with key continental and international frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Priorities include strengthening human capital, enhancing social protection, adapting to climate change, improving literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and safeguarding children from all forms of violence.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, described the launch as a “historic milestone” for the organization and the future of Chad’s children. “We are raising the bar by 20% compared to our previous strategy,” he noted. “Our goal is clear: every child in Chad should not only survive but flourish.”

tackling deep-rooted challenges

With nearly 42% of Chad’s population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified action is urgent. The strategy prioritizes integrated health and nutrition programs, with a special focus on maternal and child health, expands access to quality education, and strengthens community resilience against climate shocks. The Unlock Literacy initiative, for instance, aims to build foundational reading skills in early childhood to combat illiteracy and its long-term consequences.

Beyond programmatic interventions, World Vision Tchad is calling for a collective mobilization. The organization urges public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. “No single actor can achieve this alone,” World Vision representatives stressed. “Only through shared commitment can we turn today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children.”

The 2026-2030 strategy represents a bold step toward realizing Chad’s Vision 2030 and achieving the SDGs. By fostering an environment where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered, World Vision Tchad is positioning itself as a key driver of transformative change in the region.
