World Vision Tchad Unveils Bold 2030 Strategy for Children’s Future

N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has rolled out its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, marking a pivotal moment in the organization’s commitment to transforming lives across the country. Unveiled during a high-profile press conference in the capital, the initiative sets an ambitious target: improving the lives of 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable.

The launch event, held at the Résidence Hotel de N’Djamena, brought together key stakeholders including government officials, technical and financial partners, and media representatives. The strategy adopts a holistic approach, blending humanitarian aid with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts to address the root causes of child vulnerability in Tchad.

An Integrated Approach to Addressing Child Vulnerability

During the conference, Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director of World Vision for West Africa, emphasized the strategic importance of the new roadmap. She described it as “bold and innovative,” highlighting its foundation on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This approach ensures that emergency interventions are seamlessly linked with long-term development and peacebuilding initiatives, creating sustainable pathways out of poverty and vulnerability for Tchadian children.

Denizard underscored the urgency of the situation, noting that West and Central Africa remain among the world’s most fragile regions. Persistent challenges such as insecurity, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and mass displacement continue to threaten the well-being of millions of children. “Every child in Tchad deserves not just survival, but the opportunity to thrive,” she stated, adding that achieving this vision requires strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity.

Aligning with National and Global Goals

The strategy is designed to align with Tchad’s Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly targets related to poverty eradication (SDG 1), zero hunger (SDG 2), good health and well-being (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), clean water and sanitation (SDG 6), climate action (SDG 13), and peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16).

Key priorities outlined in the strategy include:

• Nutrition and Health: Strengthening integrated nutrition and health programs, with a particular emphasis on maternal and child health.
• Education: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to improve early childhood reading skills and ensure children remain in school.
• Child Protection: Intensifying efforts to shield children from violence, exploitation, and abuse.
• Climate Resilience: Building community resilience to climate-related shocks through sustainable agricultural practices and disaster preparedness.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a “historic milestone” for the organization and the children of Tchad. He noted that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, reflecting the organization’s commitment to scaling up its impact. “Our goal is simple yet profound: to ensure that every child in Tchad not only survives but thrives,” he declared.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Wangoy pointed out that nearly 42% of Tchad’s population lives below the poverty line, a statistic that underscores the critical need for intensified interventions. The strategy aims to address this by leveraging local partnerships, mobilizing communities, and integrating cultural and spiritual values into development programs.

A Call for Collective Action

Concluding the event, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a rallying cry to all national actors. They urged government bodies, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely to ensure the strategy’s success. “Transforming current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Tchadian children requires a united effort,” they emphasized. Through this ambitious roadmap, World Vision Tchad is poised to play a leading role in realizing the country’s Vision 2030 and advancing the global SDGs, ultimately building a future where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
