World vision Tchad unveils bold 2030 strategy for children’s futures

N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy in a high-profile press conference, marking a significant step toward transforming the lives of millions of children across the country. The initiative, launched on July 9 of this year, sets a bold target: improving the well-being of 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable through integrated interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.

The event, held at the N’Djamena Residence Hotel, brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities to discuss the roadmap for this transformative agenda. Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa based in Dakar, described the strategy as « groundbreaking and innovative, » emphasizing its foundation in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This approach bridges emergency relief with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that children in Chad not only survive but thrive in safe and nurturing environments.

Denizard highlighted the urgent need for such a strategy, pointing to Chad’s persistent challenges—multidimensional poverty, escalating insecurity, climate-induced crises, and mass population displacements. She stressed that every child in the region deserves the opportunity to flourish, and achieving this requires robust partnerships, grassroots engagement, and the integration of local cultural and spiritual values into development programs. The strategy aligns with continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030, with a strong focus on human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy programs, and child safeguarding.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, hailed the launch as a « historic milestone » for the organization and the future of Chad’s children. He noted that this strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to the previous cycle, with a clear mission: to ensure that every child in Chad not only survives but thrives. « Our goal is simple yet profound—3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most at-risk, » he stated. Ngoy Wangoy also underscored the stark realities facing the country: nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line, making targeted interventions in nutrition, health, and education more critical than ever.

The 2026-2030 strategy prioritizes key areas such as integrated nutrition and health programs, with a strong emphasis on maternal and child health; enhanced education through the Unlock Literacy initiative, which aims to build foundational reading skills in early childhood; comprehensive child protection measures; and community resilience-building against climate change impacts. The plan also calls for strengthening social protection systems and adapting to climate variability to safeguard progress.

In a rallying call to action, World Vision Tchad’s leadership urged all national stakeholders—government authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and the media—to collaborate closely. « Collective mobilization is not just desirable; it is essential, » they emphasized. « Together, we can turn current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children. » By aligning with Chad’s Vision 2030 and the broader SDGs, World Vision Tchad aims to create a future where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
