World Vision Tchad’s bold plan to transform children’s futures by 2030

N’Djamena — World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, setting out to reach 3.29 million children across the country. The comprehensive roadmap integrates humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding to create lasting change.

A transformative approach to child welfare

During the official launch event held at N’Djamena’s Résidence Hotel, World Vision Tchad presented its vision for the next five years. The strategy targets 3.29 million children, including 3.09 million in highly vulnerable situations, through enhanced interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.

Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s West Africa Regional Director, described the strategy as “bold and innovative.” She emphasized its foundation in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, which bridges emergency responses with long-term sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts. “Children in Chad deserve to thrive, not just survive,” she stated, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural integration in achieving these goals.

The strategy aligns with continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key focus areas include strengthening human capital, social protection, climate adaptation, education through the Unlock Literacy program, and child protection.

Chad’s children at the heart of the plan

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a “historic moment” for the organization and the future of children in Chad. He noted that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a simple yet bold goal: reaching 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. “We want every child in Chad not just to survive, but to flourish,” he declared.

Chad faces persistent challenges, including widespread poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and the impacts of climate change. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified support for vulnerable groups is critical. The 2026-2030 strategy prioritizes integrated nutrition and health programs, with a special focus on maternal and child health, enhanced education through Unlock Literacy, child protection from all forms of violence, and building community resilience against climate change.

A call to collective action

World Vision Tchad concluded the launch with a call to action for all national stakeholders. The organization urged public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and the media to unite their efforts. Only through collective mobilization, they argued, can current challenges be transformed into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children. This strategy aims to contribute to Chad’s Vision 2030 and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, building a nation where every child is protected, well-nourished, educated, and able to reach their full potential.
