Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly of Senegal, conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, on July 9, 2026.
In a Facebook post, he honored the late religious guide’s legacy and extended his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mouride brotherhood, and the Senegalese people as a whole. Sonko expressed profound grief, stating, “It is with deep sorrow and overwhelming emotion that I learned of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the venerable Khalife of Guinguinéo’s Khassim Mbacké family.”
Reflecting on their encounters during his visits to Guinguinéo, the Assembly President recalled the warm welcome and genuine affection he received from the late leader. Sonko shared, “On each occasion, he extended a heartfelt embrace, a gesture that left an indelible mark on me.”
During this trying moment, he extended his most sincere condolences to the family, the Mouride community, and all citizens of Senegal. His message concluded with a prayer: “May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into eternal paradise.”
