The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed his deepest condolences following the sudden passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
In a heartfelt statement on social media, he honored the late religious leader’s legacy and extended sympathies to the bereaved family, the Grand Khalife of the Mourides, and the people of Senegal.
Ousmane Sonko expressed his profound sorrow in a poignant message: “With deep emotion and great sadness, I learned of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo.”
The National Assembly leader also reflected on his personal encounters with the esteemed religious figure during visits to Guinguinéo. “I had the privilege of meeting the respected guide on multiple occasions during my trips to the region. Each meeting was marked by his warmth, hospitality, and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on us.”
