Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly of Senegal, conveyed his deepest condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, who died on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
In a heartfelt message posted on Facebook, Sonko honored the late religious leader and extended his sympathy to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the Senegalese people at large.
« I was deeply moved and saddened to learn of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké,» Sonko wrote. « May Allah grant him His mercy and admit him into eternal paradise. »
The National Assembly leader also reflected on his personal encounters with the late Khalife during visits to Guinguinéo. He described these meetings as moments of profound warmth and hospitality, where Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké consistently demonstrated kindness and generosity.
« During my visits to Guinguinéo, I had the honor of meeting this esteemed religious guide on multiple occasions, » Sonko shared. « Each time, he welcomed us with open arms, leaving a lasting impression of his compassion and wisdom. »
In this time of sorrow, Sonko offered his « most sincere condolences » to the deceased’s family, the Mouride community, the people of Guinguinéo, and all Senegalese citizens, praying for the late Khalife’s soul to rest in peace.
