Ambassador Arrouchi emphasized that the Skhirat Agreement, signed in December 2015 under UN supervision, remains the most viable framework for achieving a lasting resolution to the Libyan conflict. He underscored the importance of preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while rejecting any military escalation as a solution.

The ambassador highlighted Morocco’s active role in facilitating dialogue between Libyan factions. He cited the meetings held in Tripoli and Zenten, which culminated in the January 7, 2026 agreement between representatives of the Government of National Unity and the Libyan Eastern government. These efforts align with the principles outlined in the Skhirat Agreement and the Bouznika understandings, reinforcing Morocco’s dedication to a peaceful political settlement.
