Malian forces claim significant gains against armed groups in northern regions

Malian armed forces (FAMA) confirmed on Thursday that their recent military operations, conducted in concert with strategic partners, resulted in the neutralization of approximately one hundred armed combatants. These decisive actions unfolded across the northern regions of Anfif and Tabrachat.

In an official statement, the army detailed that these operations specifically targeted elements affiliated with the “Al-Nusra for Islam and Muslims” (JNIM) and the “Azawad Liberation Front” (FLA). The coordinated effort included 13 precision airstrikes, which also led to the destruction of six combat vehicles and a tactical pickup truck.

The military further elaborated that these engagements took place on Tuesday. They emphasized their unwavering commitment to continuing the campaign against armed groups throughout various parts of the country, highlighting the forces’ resolve to execute these operations with both discipline and steadfastness, in close collaboration with their partners.

Concurrently, the Africa Corps, a Russian contingent, issued a statement via “X,” indicating their participation in these operations. They reported the destruction and incineration of numerous militant vehicles, adding that one of their drones successfully targeted another vehicle laden with ammunition and military supplies.

The Russian Africa Corps characterized these as “successful joint operations” alongside the Malian armed forces against regional armed groups. They affirmed their intention to persist in targeting militant positions and equipment.
