As the 22nd World Blood Donor Day approaches on June 14, 2026, the National Blood Transfusion Centre (CNTS) in Lomé is rallying residents of the capital and surrounding areas to take part in a life-saving initiative.
The campaign, themed “A drop of humanity. Give blood. Save lives.”, will culminate in a dedicated blood donation drive on Friday, June 12, 2026, running from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Two convenient donation locations in Lomé
Donors can visit one of two designated sites to contribute to this vital cause:
- the National Blood Transfusion Centre (CNTS) headquarters at Tokoin Doumasséssé, directly across from EPP Doumasséssé 1;
- the Collection and Distribution Post (PCD) in Tokoin, located within the Sylvanus Olympio University Hospital, behind the hemodialysis unit.
Urgent call for solidarity to meet medical demand
This special collection aims to bolster the country’s blood reserves and ensure hospitals can meet urgent patient needs. The CNTS is urging widespread participation, emphasizing that a single donation can save multiple lives.
“Every donor strengthens our shared mission,” the centre stated, calling on the public’s generosity and civic spirit to make the event a success.
The Lomé CNTS extends its gratitude in advance to all volunteers whose contributions will directly support patients in need of life-saving transfusions.
