The prices of construction materials in N’Djamena are on the rise, with several products seeing significant increases over the past few weeks.
The lambour, once sold for 3,000 FCFA, is now being marketed between 4,500 and 5,000 FCFA. The chevron has also seen a substantial increase, jumping from 6,000 to 9,000 FCFA, while the planche blanche has risen from 9,000 to 14,000 FCFA.
The Dangote cement bag is being sold for 11,000 FCFA.
For quincaillerie owners, the surge in prices is largely attributed to the recent increase in customs taxes on imported goods. The measure has substantially raised costs of procurement.
