Gabon: RPM backs President Oligui Nguema and demands tangible results

The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), an active member of Gabon’s presidential majority, has expressed its warm congratulations to President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the political group lauded the head of state’s intense efforts and dedication to the country during the month of August.

Focus on health and provincial development

Under the banner “From action to results,” the RPM highlighted the significant measures introduced to upgrade the national healthcare system. The party commended the president’s active field visits and his clear commitment to boosting development across Gabon’s various provinces.

A key highlight is the allocation of 55 billion CFA francs to the health sector, which was announced in Makokou. This financial package includes 44 billion CFA francs to modernise national medical equipment, 6 billion CFA francs to reopen cafeterias inside hospitals, and 5 billion CFA francs to support the national social security and health insurance fund (CNAMGS). The RPM considers these decisions vital to addressing the essential needs of the population and has called for their swift and effective execution.

Infrastructure projects and regional decentralisation

In addition to healthcare, the political party pointed to several new administrative, commercial, military, and medical facilities launched in the Grand Libreville area. During the Independence Day celebrations in Makokou, 17 structural initiatives were also highlighted for the Ogooué-Ivindo province. Furthermore, the Mayiga housing scheme is underway to decentralise development, with 50 homes already built, 25 currently under construction, and a final objective of preparing 500 residential plots.

Moving from promises to concrete proof

Reflecting on Gabon’s 66th independence anniversary and the third anniversary of the transition coup, the RPM embraced the president’s own philosophy: the era of making promises must now make way for the era of delivering proof. The party stresses that the true success of any government policy lies entirely in its positive, daily impact on the lives of Gabonese citizens.

The statement also welcomed the diplomatic visit of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, to Libreville, which resulted in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.

To sustain this positive momentum, the RPM urges the government to focus on project completion, long-term maintenance of infrastructure, and youth employment. The party reaffirmed its loyal support for national unity and modernisation efforts.

Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who serves as the Vice President of the Republic, the RPM joined the coalition backing Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for the presidential election held on April 12, 2025, while maintaining its political independence. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
