The Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development has issued a sweeping new directive prohibiting all agents of the water and forestry service from donning any military uniforms, insignia, ranks, berets or other armed forces paraphernalia.
Signed by the ministry’s Secretary-General, Koularambaye Koundja Julien, the circular responds to repeated reports of former military personnel and even civilian staff wearing insignia and gear belonging exclusively to the Chadian National Army.
The directive makes clear that any breach will trigger immediate disciplinary measures. Department heads at central and regional levels have been ordered to enforce the ban without delay, with compliance expected as of now.
