Maurice Digbeu Kipré, the visionary founder and CEO of Serenity, one of Côte d’Ivoire’s leading insurance firms, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Abidjan. He was 75 years old.

Born in Côte d’Ivoire, Kipré earned his academic credentials locally before furthering his studies in the United States. His professional journey began in 1979 at American International Group (AIG), where he honed his expertise in the insurance sector.

In 1988, he took on a pivotal role as the Director of Insurance within Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, shaping national insurance policies for nearly a decade. His leadership continued to expand in 1993 when he assumed the helm of CICA-RE, guiding the reinsurance company until early 2008.

With a bold entrepreneurial spirit, Kipré launched his own venture, Serenity, in November 2008. Under his guidance, the company grew into a respected name in the African insurance landscape. His influence extended beyond Serenity as he contributed to major industry bodies, including the CIMA Regional Control Commission, the African Insurance Organization (AIO), the Executive Committee of FANAF, and the Board of Directors of the International Insurance Institute in Yaoundé.
