N'Djamena's urban transformation takes shape with AMGT's strategic documents

Leading municipal officials, technical directors, and development experts convened at N’Djamena’s Radisson Blu hotel to validate critical strategic frameworks for the Agency for Major Works (AMGT). The session brought together municipal administrators, council members, and consultants from the Center for Innovation and Development (CID) to refine operational guidelines essential for the city’s sustainable growth.

Addressing the gathering, Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, Mayor of N’Djamena, emphasized the agency’s pivotal role in addressing pressing urban challenges. He highlighted that AMGT was established to enhance the city’s capacity in designing, planning, financing, and executing large-scale projects aligned with population needs and development aspirations.

“The AMGT was created to strengthen the Commune’s ability to deliver transformative infrastructure while fostering efficient governance and robust management systems,” stated the Mayor. “Facing rapid urbanization, demographic pressure, and climate vulnerabilities, this agency will be instrumental in building the resilient systems N’Djamena urgently requires.”

He urged participants to engage critically with the proposed documents, including the administrative, financial, and accounting management manual, the performance monitoring framework, and the environmental, social, and gender management system. These tools, he noted, would embed accountability, sustainability, and inclusivity into every project.

The Mayor underscored that the agency’s success hinges on transparent governance, rigorous organizational structures, and streamlined operational processes. Only through collective input and adherence to these principles, he argued, could AMGT fulfill its mission of shaping a thriving, future-ready capital.
