Mali offers bounties for top terror leaders in Sahel campaign
In a bold move to strengthen national security and curb terrorism in the Sahel, the Government of Mali has announced cash rewards for the capture or elimination of seven high-profile terrorist commanders. The bounties range from 500 million to 2 billion West African CFA francs, depending on the individual’s threat level.
The Ministry of Security stated in an official bulletin that substantial financial incentives will be granted to anyone providing credible, actionable intelligence leading to the arrest or neutralization of the specified operatives. « These rewards reflect our commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and protecting civilian lives across the country, » the statement emphasized.
The list includes some of the region’s most notorious figures:
- Iyad Ag Ghali – 2 billion FCFA
- Hamadoun Hassan Sankaré (Amadou Kouffa) – 1.5 billion FCFA
- Abdoulaye Mahamadou Bekaye Diallo (Doulé Bib de Nampala) – 1.5 billion FCFA
- Alghabass Ag Intallah – 1 billion FCFA
These individuals are wanted for their alleged roles in orchestrating deadly attacks against civilians and security forces, destabilizing communities and undermining national stability. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and cooperate closely with defense and security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity.
The initiative underscores Mali’s intensified efforts to dismantle terror cells operating within its borders and across the broader Sahel region.
