The judicial proceeding traces back to a formal petition submitted to the public prosecutor on July 14, 2026, by Serigne Modou Maroun Niang and Serigne Mourtalla Bousso. Identifying themselves as direct grandsons of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the two figures have targeted remarks delivered by the President of the National Assembly during the launch of the Pastef headquarters in Mbacké. During this event, Ousmane Sonko reportedly claimed that illicit financial flows had infiltrated Touba.
