Côte d’Ivoire celebrates unprecedented financial mobilization for future growth
President Alassane Ouattara expressed his satisfaction with the extraordinary turnout as he addressed the nation following the conclusion of the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 financing consultation group meetings in Abidjan.
The two-day session, held on July 8-9, brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 countries, representing financial institutions, investment funds, banking sectors, business associations, public and private enterprises, as well as key development partners at the highest level.
An exceptional financial commitment emerged from these discussions: commitments totaling $80 billion (47,820 billion F CFA), far exceeding the initial target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA—nearly four times the expected amount.
The PND 2026-2030 embodies a bold vision: “Building a great, stable, ambitious, and united Nation.” With a projected investment volume of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately $209 billion) over five years, the private sector will drive 70.2% of this transformation, spearheading economic and social progress.
Six strategic priorities to propel Côte d’Ivoire forward
The plan is structured around six key priorities:
- Peace, security, and stability as the foundation for progress
- Agriculture and agro-industry to boost productivity and food security
- Private sector growth and industrialization as economic catalysts
- Human capital development through education and healthcare
- Strategic infrastructure to connect regions and economies
- Good governance and state modernization to ensure transparency and efficiency
Macroeconomic ambitions for a brighter future
The strategy sets ambitious macroeconomic targets: elevating Côte d’Ivoire to the status of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, with a GDP per capita of $4,500 and poverty rates reduced to below 20%.
President Ouattara emphasized the government’s role in turning these financial commitments into tangible benefits for every Ivorian—more schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, and shared prosperity.
“Together, with confidence, determination, and unity, we will continue building a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and united,” he declared.
