The Republic of Chad has been chosen as the guest of honor for the 54th National Day parade in Cameroon, which will take place on May 20, 2026, in Yaoundé and across all regions of the country.
A celebration of unity and national pride
Known as the Day of Unity, this annual event honors Cameroon’s national cohesion and stands as one of the most significant moments in the country’s institutional and patriotic calendar. For the 2026 edition, the theme set by Cameroonian authorities is “National unity: the foundation of our defense and the key to Cameroon’s development.”
A grand parade and nationwide festivities
In Yaoundé, the celebration will feature a major civil and military parade, bringing together defense and security forces, educational institutions, youth organizations, and various segments of Cameroonian society. Similar ceremonies will unfold in all ten regions of Cameroon.
Expanding the celebration to a week-long event
The Ministry of Youth has introduced several innovations for this year’s festivities. Highlights include a nationwide cultural diversity carnival and the extension of celebrations to a full week, ensuring a broader participation from communities across the country.
