Following a series of attacks near Niamey’s Diori-Hamani International Airport on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the government of the Republic of Bénin has extended its full solidarity to the people of Niger.
In an official statement released from Cotonou, Beninese authorities conveyed their deep concern over the incident, condemning the assault on a critical civilian infrastructure.
« The Republic of Bénin strongly condemns this act of aggression targeting a vital civilian infrastructure and jeopardizing the safety of local populations », the statement emphasized.
Unwavering support for Niger
In addition to voicing solidarity with the Nigerien people, the Beninese government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the authorities in Niamey, including President Abdourahamane Tiani.
Moreover, the statement highlighted the enduring bonds of friendship and fraternity that unite the peoples of Bénin and Niger, reinforcing their shared resolve to uphold regional stability.
