The declaration, delivered by Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Omar Zniber, on behalf of the group, underscored that the Sahara issue remains aligned with the political path advocated by the United Nations through the Security Council framework.

The joint statement highlighted that Morocco’s autonomy initiative presents a serious and realistic framework for achieving a lasting political settlement to the dispute. It also reiterated support for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which calls for restarting the political process with all relevant parties.

Supporting nations commended Morocco for crafting the autonomy proposal and its pledge to integrate Tindouf camp residents, ensuring their rights equitably alongside other citizens. They also praised the kingdom’s cooperation with UN human rights mechanisms, noting it reflects a positive commitment to advancing and safeguarding fundamental freedoms.

The communiqué emphasized that the establishment of general consulates by multiple countries in Laayoune and Dakhla signals growing international backing for Morocco. This move is seen as fostering development, investment, and regional cooperation in the southern provinces. The group concluded by affirming that resolving the conflict would catalyze integration and growth across Africa and the Arab world.
