Turin derby delayed after violent clashes between Juventus and Torino fans leave one supporter in critical condition

Scheduled for 20:45 as part of Serie A’s final matchday, the highly anticipated Turin derby between Juventus and Torino FC was postponed to 21:45 after violent clashes erupted between rival supporters outside the stadium, leaving one fan in a life-threatening condition.
The match, which could have secured Juventus a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League, never got underway on schedule this evening. Authorities intervened after a Juventus supporter was rushed to hospital with severe injuries sustained during the disturbances. While emergency services worked to contain the situation, club officials held emergency talks with league representatives to determine the way forward.
Juventus president and CEO Damien Comolli, speaking to reporters, revealed that supporters in the Juventus section of the stadium had urged team captain Manuel Locatelli to refuse to take the field until they were assured of their fellow fan’s wellbeing. The league had originally scheduled the match simultaneously with fixtures in Milan, Como, and Rome—all featuring teams still vying for the final two Champions League qualification spots.
