Chad’s President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, issued a stern warning in the aftermath of yet another brutal assault. In a Facebook statement, he reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the insurgency once and for all. The president’s remarks came in response to a deadly attack carried out by a faction of the Boko Haram extremist group on a military outpost in Barka Tolorom, located on the Chadian side of Lake Chad. The assault claimed the lives of 24 soldiers, underscoring the persistent danger posed by the militant organization.
