Ousmane sonko unveils bold economic plan to create thousands of jobs in Senegal

Senegal’s Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, stood before the National Assembly on May 22, 2026, to deliver a resounding message about the government’s unwavering commitment to job creation as a cornerstone of its economic and social policy. Addressing lawmakers during a session dedicated to current affairs, Sonko emphasized the critical need to tackle youth unemployment, a pressing concern resonating deeply across the nation.

With a firm tone, the Prime Minister declared, « Job creation is our absolute priority, and we are committed to generating thousands of new employment opportunities. » He outlined a strategic shift in Senegal’s economic priorities, placing the private sector at the heart of this transformation while strengthening the country’s economic sovereignty.
