Morocco Seeks $26 Billion in US and World Bank Funding for Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline

Rabat is intensifying its efforts to secure the necessary funds to build the Gazoduc Africa Atlantique (GAA), a gas pipeline developed in partnership with Nigeria.

• The Export-Import Bank of the United States and the World Bank are key targets for Morocco’s funding drive, according to Youssef Amrani, the Moroccan ambassador to the US.
• Amrani said Rabat aims to raise $26 billion from these lenders to complete the project.
• The GAA pipeline is expected to transport natural gas from Nigeria to Morocco, boosting the country’s energy supplies and reducing its reliance on imported fuels.
