At just 19 years old, Yan Diomandé is turning heads in European football circles following his standout season with RB Leipzig. The Ivorian winger, who has netted 13 goals and provided 10 assists this campaign, has caught the attention of football powerhouses like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Liverpool. While most transfer deals are on hold during the FIFA World Cup, the future of this young talent could be decided sooner than expected.
As Diomandé competes in the World Cup with the Ivory Coast, his agents are actively negotiating with clubs, particularly Liverpool, who are keen to secure his signature despite stiff competition from PSG. Reports suggest a potential deal could be finalized during the tournament, keeping the football world on edge. The teenager remains focused, though, as he prepares for his nation’s crucial matches.
Emerse Faé weighs in on Diomandé’s future
Ivorian head coach Emerse Faé acknowledged the speculation surrounding his young star but emphasized the player’s priorities. « When we were in France preparing, journalists kept saying he’d join PSG. Now in the U.S., they’re saying Liverpool. We’ll see. I believe he’s fully concentrated on the World Cup right now, and after that, he’ll make the best decision for his career », Faé remarked following his team’s opening 1-0 victory over Ecuador in Philadelphia.
Diomandé himself has kept his cards close to his chest. « I’m a Leipzig player right now, but why not? My agents handle these discussions. My focus is on the World Cup—it only comes around every four years. I’m giving it my all here, and we’ll assess the rest later », he shared in a mixed-zone interview after his team’s impressive start.
