Gabon’s president meets Libreville mayor to discuss urban development

The President of Gabon recently held a high-level meeting with Libreville’s Mayor, Eugène Mba, focusing on the progress of local governance initiatives, municipal performance evaluations, and strengthening state-local coordination to better serve citizens.

During the meeting, Mayor Eugène Mba provided a comprehensive update on the implementation of his municipal development roadmap, which was established upon taking office. He outlined the newly restructured municipal organization and presented key action plan priorities designed to revitalize Libreville’s urban management. The discussions centered on transformative projects poised to reshape the capital’s landscape for years to come.

The President underscored the critical need to accelerate urban sanitation efforts, highlighting waste management challenges as a priority for modern capital cities.

Efforts must focus on improving household waste collection, transportation, treatment, and recycling to ensure a healthy environment for all residents.
