Gabon: Congo’s president tshisekedi concludes working visit in librevillle

On Friday, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), arrived in Libreville for a working and friendship visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties with Gabon.

Crowds of Gabonese citizens gathered at the airport to welcome the Congolese leader, creating a lively atmosphere as he stepped off the plane. The visit underscored the strong diplomatic and cultural connections between the two nations.

Tshisekedi then visited the newly renovated Léon Mba Memorial, where he laid a wreath in honor of Gabon’s first president—a key figure in the country’s independence movement. The tribute included a moment of silence and the recitation of the national anthem for fallen heroes.

This gesture reflected Gabon’s commitment to preserving the legacy of its founding leaders and honoring those who shaped the continent’s fight for freedom. Following the tribute, Tshisekedi signed the presidential guestbook, marking his presence at this historic site.

The next day, he met with Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema at the presidential palace to discuss bilateral cooperation. Though no official agenda was released, the meeting highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two nations as members of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

Diplomatic exchanges between Libreville and Kinshasa have long been a cornerstone of regional stability, reinforcing economic and political solidarity in Central Africa.
