Could a French football legend take charge of Senegal?
The Senegalese football federation is set for an urgent executive committee meeting in Dakar this Saturday. With the Lions of Teranga recently eliminated from the World Cup in dramatic fashion, the future of the national team’s coach is expected to dominate discussions.
Speculation is growing that Patrick Vieira, a former French international, could be in the running to replace the current manager. While Vieira has led clubs in New York, Nice, Crystal Palace, Strasbourg, and Genoa, this would mark his first opportunity to manage a national side.
Current coach Pape Thiaw remains in his position, reportedly having signed a contract mid-tournament. Yet, the federation’s internal debates suggest change may be on the horizon. For Vieira, a return to the dugout could offer a chance to finally claim the glory he has yet to achieve as a manager.
