Chad's freight sector enters digital era with BNFT's groundbreaking training

The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has successfully wrapped up a three-day intensive training session in N’Djamena, Chad, dedicated to digitizing terrestrial freight services. Held at the Kempinski Hotel N’Djamena, the workshop brought together controllers and representatives primarily from N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi regions to explore cutting-edge digital tools designed to revolutionize Chad’s land transport sector.

Key modules and digital tools introduced

During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, Chair of the Steering Committee, praised participants for their active engagement throughout the program. He highlighted that multiple modules focused on new technologies and digital freight management systems were covered, including:

  • Accessing the digital interface
  • Digital freight declaration processes
  • Carrier management systems
  • Agency and structure configuration
  • System parameterization

Organizers emphasized that these tools are set to enhance administrative efficiency and streamline real-time monitoring of freight operations across Chad.

National digital transformation drive

The BNFT’s Chair emphasized that this initiative aligns with Chad’s broader public sector modernization agenda under the country’s digital transformation vision. He noted that the transition to digital systems is now essential for effectively managing critical transport documents like the Mandatory Vehicle Letter (LVO) and Axle Tax (TAE), which require digital proficiency for accurate oversight.

Technical partners TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO Consulting were acknowledged for their technical support and expertise throughout the training. Participants were urged to apply their newly acquired skills to drive the digital modernization of Chad’s land freight sector.

e-BNFT platform: a game-changer for freight management

Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director-General of the Steering Committee, reiterated that the workshop focused on training agents, controllers, and representatives on using and managing the new e-BNFT platform. He described the initiative as a decisive shift from traditional paper-based processes to a fully digitalized system.

The platform enables instant issuance and verification of essential documents such as the Mandatory Vehicle Letter and Axle Tax, while facilitating seamless, contactless processing of freight documents. Users can access the system via computers or mobile devices, ensuring flexibility and efficiency.

Boosting state revenues and economic governance

The Director-General also underscored the platform’s role in securing state revenue streams and generating reliable statistical data for improved national economic planning. He stressed that this digital leap supports the modernization agenda championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.

As the workshop concluded, participants were encouraged to integrate the platform into daily operations for better proficiency and to share their knowledge with colleagues who missed the training. The event concluded on a note of optimism, with a call to sustain momentum in overcoming digitalization challenges within Chad’s public administration and land transport sector.
