Boko Haram’s resurgence in Lake Chad region sparks security fears

Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno issued a stern warning following a deadly assault on a military outpost along the shores of Lake Chad. Addressing the nation via social media, he declared, “We will intensify our operations with unshaken resolve until this menace is completely eradicated.” His statement came in response to a brazen attack carried out by an offshoot of the jihadist faction Boko Haram on the military base at Barka Tolorom, situated on the Chadian side of the lake.
