Bénin: minister géorges alé emphasizes quality in ongoing road infrastructure projects

As part of the ongoing oversight for major national road network modernization initiatives, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, conducted an inspection tour last Tuesday across three vital construction sites. The visit underscored a firm commitment to technical excellence, environmental preservation, public health considerations, and strict adherence to contractual timelines.

The ministerial delegation’s initial stop was at the Djonou bridge, located within the Abomey-Calavi commune. At this crucial location, all dredging operations have been successfully completed. This significant intervention has effectively cleared the waterway, ensuring superior rainwater drainage and enhancing the overall structural safety of the bridge.

Subsequently, the minister proceeded to the Missessinto-Allada (RNIE2) section, where a 2×2 lane development project is underway, managed by the SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP consortium. While acknowledging the commendable progress and positive momentum of the work, Georges Alé stressed the absolute necessity of meticulously following the agreed-upon project schedule. This commitment is vital to promptly deliver a modern and secure thoroughfare for all road users in Bénin.

The inspection concluded at the Allada roundabout and the adjacent retention basins established in the area. Demonstrating keen attention to sanitation concerns, the minister instructed the technical teams to foster close collaboration with the Ministry of Health. This proactive approach aims to anticipate and mitigate any potential health risks associated with stagnant water accumulation.
