The defensive reshuffle at Stade Rennais is taking shape with the arrival of an energetic right-back. The club’s recruitment team, led by Franck Haise, has prioritized a dynamic and attacking full-back to reinforce a once-vulnerable flank. Ligue 1 experience not enough to sway Haise’s decision

Franck Haise had considered Kaboré as a reliable option for the Ligue 1 stage. The Burkinabé, who previously donned the colors of Olympique de Marseille during the 2022-2023 campaign, was familiar with the demands of French football. Though his stint in Marseille was short-lived, his standout performances in England had caught the attention of Rennes’ scouts.

Returning to Manchester City this summer, Kaboré is no longer part of their long-term plans. Valued at approximately €4 million by Transfermarkt, his contract runs until June 2027, making him an affordable yet high-potential target. Yet Rennes chose Reynolds, forcing the club to explore alternative options for their defensive needs.

Kaboré poised for a fresh start at Troyes?

With Rennes out of the picture, Kaboré remains an attractive prospect for other clubs. Manchester City is reportedly open to a permanent move or another loan deal to facilitate his departure.

Recent reports suggest an unexpected opportunity may arise in France. Ligue 2’s ESTAC Troyes has shown interest in signing the experienced right-back. This potential move could reignite the Burkinabé’s career, offering him a platform to secure significant playing time for the 2026-2027 season.
