Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addresses Maurice Kamto’s political transition and party dynamics

The newly appointed leader of the Clarification and Restoration Commission, established by Maurice Kamto, recently shared insights during a national television interview. His remarks focused on Kamto’s temporary departure from the party to pursue a presidential bid under the Manidem coalition for the 2026 elections—a candidacy ultimately rejected by electoral authorities.

«Maurice Kamto’s exit from the party was never intended as a permanent farewell,» Binyam explained. «We entrusted him with a mission. Now that the process has concluded, he has returned, and we’ve urged him to resume his leadership role within the party.»

As a prominent figure in the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC), Binyam emphasized the deep emotional impact Kamto’s exclusion had on party members. «The disqualification of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy struck a severe blow to our ranks. It was a devastating setback—particularly since pre-election polls had projected him as the clear frontrunner, both domestically and internationally,» he noted.
