The evening’s attendees included key decision-makers such as Bakary Sarr, Senegal’s Minister of Communication and government spokesperson, along with Amadou Tidiane Wone, Advisor to the Republic’s Presidency. Lamine Niang, Director-General of the daily newspaper Le Soleil, was also present, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

The exhibition itself is a rich tapestry of visual storytelling, featuring archival photographs, press clippings, and historical documents—many of which were sourced from Le Soleil’s archives. Each piece serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between Dakar and Rabat, weaving together decades of collaboration.

preserving a legacy for tomorrow’s generation

Morocco’s Ambassador to Senegal, Hassan Naciri, emphasized that this exhibition transcends mere nostalgia. Speaking to the audience, he highlighted the responsibility to safeguard and pass down this shared heritage. «This showcase invites us to revisit the defining moments of an extraordinary relationship, while also reminding us of our duty to nurture and perpetuate this legacy for future generations,» he remarked. He continued, «It is our shared responsibility to nurture this exceptional bond, enrich it, and ensure its continuity—an inheritance bequeathed to us by our Monarchs, Senegalese Presidents, and all those who have contributed to its foundation.»

Lamine Niang, Director-General of Le Soleil, echoed these sentiments. «This partnership demonstrates that authentic African solidarity is possible when rooted in trust and a shared vision that goes beyond mere interests,» he stated. He added, «Even today, thousands of Senegalese students pursue higher education in Moroccan universities, while Moroccan students contribute to the vibrancy of Senegal’s higher education institutions.»

an exhibition that bridges past and future

Beyond its historical significance, the exhibition stands as a living symbol of the unbreakable bond between Morocco and Senegal. It serves as a reminder of the progress achieved and the potential for even greater collaboration in the years to come. By showcasing this shared journey, the event reaffirms the commitment of both nations to strengthen their ties and build a shared future.
