The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared a decisive shift in momentum, asserting full control over regions previously targeted by armed factions in the northern and central zones of the country. This announcement follows intensified clashes in critical areas, including Anifif, located about 110 kilometers south of Kidal in the northeast.
reinforced operations in the northeast
In a formal statement, the FAMA highlighted the arrival of additional reinforcements—both human and logistical—supporting the Front de Libération de l’Azawad (FLA) in Anifif. Despite these efforts, Malian military units maintained their offensive posture, demonstrating unwavering resolve throughout sustained combat operations.
The army’s communiqué emphasized their troops’ commitment, stating: “Confronted with these pressures, our forces engaged with unyielding determination and tactical precision, sustaining operations throughout the day with courage and discipline.”
confidence in national defense capabilities
The FAMA reaffirmed their confidence in their ability to protect the nation’s sovereignty, safeguard civilian populations, and dismantle hostile forces operating within Mali’s borders. The statement underscored their strategic resolve to preserve the country’s territorial integrity and restore stability in contested regions.
FLA leadership denies reports of commander’s death
The FLA’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, addressed recent claims regarding the status of their leader, Mbarek Ag Akli. In a direct rebuttal, he confirmed that the commander remains active, continuing to oversee military operations on the ground in northern Mali. This declaration counters earlier reports that had suggested his demise in the ongoing conflict.
