Côte d’Ivoire: Laurent Gbagbo restructures PPA-CI leadership team

Laurent Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire and head of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), announced Monday a strategic reorganization of the party’s leadership. Four vice-presidents and a Chairman of the Strategic and Political Council have been appointed, each entrusted with key responsibilities to enhance the party’s operational efficiency.

New leadership roles and responsibilities

• Assoa Adou, First Vice-President, is tasked with upholding the party’s statutes and internal regulations. His role ensures alignment between the party’s structures and its core principles and strategic directions.
• Oulaye Hubert, Second Vice-President, oversees the party’s internal operations. He leads the Central Committee sessions and ensures adherence to established party guidelines.
• Ackan Emmanuel, Third Vice-President, focuses on energizing the party’s political activities. He strengthens its outreach and coordinates interactions with national institutions, all while aligning with the party’s political vision.
• Justin Koné Katinan, Fourth Vice-President, directs the party’s overall strategy. He guides policy formulation, execution, and monitoring, including oversight of the party’s government program initiatives.
• Sébastien Dano Djedje has been appointed Chairman of the Strategic and Political Council. He leads the party’s general management and ensures cohesive implementation of its political agenda.

A vision for collective leadership

In a communiqué, Laurent Gbagbo emphasized the significance of this restructuring: “This distribution of leadership roles reflects our commitment to fostering a more collaborative and unified direction, where responsibility is shared and collective action drives our mission.”

He added, “The strength of our party lies not in a single individual, but in the unity of our leaders and members working together toward a shared vision.”

The announcement follows Gbagbo’s declaration on May 16 during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebration in Songon M’Bratté. He outlined plans to revamp the party’s leadership to boost its functionality, effectiveness, and capacity to deliver on its promises.
