Cameroon’s agro-industrial transformation takes a leap forward with Denky plant

Cameroonian entrepreneur Lisette Claudia Tame has inaugurated the Denky agro-industrial plant in Badenkop, Bangou district (West Region), on June 26, 2026. This facility represents a major milestone in the country’s strategy to reduce food imports and boost local processing of agricultural products.

The project, developed by Meta Invest, marks the third agro-industrial plant launched by Tame in less than two years. The inauguration ceremony was attended by two key government officials: Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, Minister of Trade, and Gabriel Mbairobe, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. Funding and support were provided by BGFIBank Cameroun.

The Denky plant specializes in processing maize, sugar, plantains and potatoes, aligning with national goals to create jobs, reduce rural exodus and enhance the value of local agricultural output. With an annual processing capacity of between 5,200 and 6,000 tons, the facility sits on a three-hectare plot granted by the state. The project is expected to generate 350 to 550 direct jobs, contributing to rural economic stability.

This initiative is part of Cameroon’s broader SND30 development strategy, which prioritizes import substitution and local industrialization. Lisette Claudia Tame’s vision underscores the growing role of women in driving Cameroon’s economic transformation through agribusiness.
