Mahamadou Sana, the Minister of Security, recently observed the remarkable effectiveness of the new electronic traffic violation system, known as e-verbalisation, merely twelve hours following its official activation. The innovative system, designed to automatically detect infractions of the highway code, went live on August 1, 2026, precisely at midnight. By noon on the same day, the Minister personally visited the video protection supervision center, joined by Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and Information Technology, to witness the real-time operational flow of the process.

During his visit, Minister Sana extended his commendation to the dedicated technical teams, acknowledging their indispensable role in successfully implementing this technological advancement. Within the initial half-day of operation, the system meticulously logged 1,099 traffic offenses. These violations encompassed a range of common transgressions, including the failure to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic lights, exceeding posted speed limits, and the dangerous use of mobile phones while driving. Notably, five individuals who committed these infractions have already completed their fine payments through the integrated FASO ARZEKA platform, demonstrating the system’s end-to-end functionality.

Minister Mahamadou Sana emphasized that these swift and positive outcomes unequivocally validate the operational readiness of the digital enforcement mechanism. He further highlighted that these results underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to leveraging advanced digital technologies as a cornerstone strategy for enhancing road safety across Burkina Faso. The Ministry of Security reiterates a crucial message to all road users: adherence to traffic regulations remains the most effective method to avoid penalties and ensure collective safety on the nation’s roads.
