The solemn opening session of the 51st General Assembly of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly (APF) took place on July 9 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. High-profile figures were in attendance, including the President of the Cameroonian Senate, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Economic and Social Council, and Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). Over 350 delegates participated, including nearly 20 presidents and vice-presidents of member parliaments, alongside representatives from diplomatic missions and international organisations.

The event focused on pressing issues such as governance, democratic strengthening, economic growth, social development, cultural exchange, and environmental sustainability. These discussions aim to foster parliamentary cooperation and develop shared solutions to challenges faced by the Francophone community.
