The political climate in Chad continues to heat up as opposition forces sound the alarm over what they call a tightening grip by authorities. In a press briefing held in N’Djamena on Wednesday, the party Les Patriotes—a member of the former Groupe de concertation des acteurs politiques (GCAP)—highlighted growing concerns about judicial crackdowns on political figures, mounting security challenges, and deepening communal divides.
During the event, representatives of Les Patriotes underscored the urgency of addressing these issues, warning that the country’s stability is under threat. They pointed to recent court rulings targeting opposition leaders as evidence of an increasingly restrictive environment for dissent. Meanwhile, security threats in certain regions and rising tensions between communities are exacerbating an already fragile situation.
