Gabon Poste’s Director-General, Alfred Ikaka Bobe, announced on Tuesday that the postal savings accounts frozen since last year’s PostBank SA collapse are now verifiable online. This follows the launch of a new digital tool designed to streamline the process for affected savers.
To check their status, account holders can now access the platform at ccp.laposte.ga using either a computer or a smartphone. The service went live on Monday but experienced heavy traffic, reaching over 10,000 visits within hours of its release.
« The application has been updated and will be fully functional starting Wednesday », Alfred Ikaka Bobe confirmed. Users are required to confirm their status as living individuals and specify their preferred payment location—whether within or outside Gabon.
Those whose records were successfully updated by the liquidator but have lost their original passbooks are advised to visit a Poste outlet to request a replacement. The new digital system also accommodates savers residing abroad, ensuring they remain informed about their account status.
In 2017, PostBank SA, a subsidiary of Poste, collapsed, leaving approximately 60,000 savers in limbo. After years of unfulfilled promises under the previous administration, the transitional government pledged in February 2025 to resolve the debt over three years, with disbursements scheduled in annual installments totaling 31.212 billion CFA francs.
