Pierre Emmanuel Binyam: « Maurice Kamto remains essential for Cameroon’s MRC »
While acknowledging that Maurice Kamto isn’t the sole leader capable of guiding Cameroon’s Movement for the Renaissance (MRC), Pierre Emmanuel Binyam emphasized in a recent televised interview that the party currently needs Kamto’s leadership more than ever.
Pierre Emmanuel Binyam, head of Cameroon’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, has weighed in on the leadership debate within the Movement for the Renaissance (MRC). While acknowledging that Maurice Kamto isn’t the only figure capable of leading the party, he stressed that the current circumstances demand Kamto’s leadership.
In a recent interview on STV, Binyam stated, « There isn’t only Maurice Kamto who can lead the MRC, but under the current circumstances, we need Maurice Kamto. »
During the discussion, Binyam also addressed rumors of internal opposition to Kamto’s potential return as MRC leader. He dismissed these claims outright, asserting, « Regarding the alleged opposition to Maurice Kamto’s return, I’ve made it clear—there is no such debate. No party body has initiated discussions about his return. In fact, multiple motions have been signed urging his immediate reinstatement. »
