ID4Africa 2026 gathers African digital identity leaders in Abidjan
From May 12 to 15, 2026, Abidjan will host the 7th annual ID4Africa General Assembly at the Parc des Expositions de Port-Bouët. This year’s gathering focuses on the theme “Digital identity: from public digital infrastructures to public digital ecosystems.”
The event brings together African public sector decision-makers, technical experts, private sector stakeholders, and international institution representatives to discuss critical digital transformation challenges.
Official proceedings kicked off on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné presiding over the opening ceremony. Over four days, participants will explore topics such as secure population identification, access to digital public services, data protection, and the development of inclusive digital ecosystems.
The conference aims to move beyond purely technical infrastructure models toward comprehensive systems that integrate human, legal, institutional, and sectoral dimensions. Since its inception in 2014, ID4Africa has supported African nations in building robust and responsible digital identity frameworks to drive sustainable development, digital transformation, and humanitarian efforts.
By hosting this year’s assembly, Côte d’Ivoire reinforces its commitment to the continent’s digital evolution while emphasizing the pivotal role of reliable digital identities in ensuring citizens access essential services.
