Gabon has successfully secured an impressive sum exceeding 524 billion F CFA from international financial markets, sending a powerful message of confidence to foreign investors. Marking its strategic return to these benchmark markets, the nation, under the decisive leadership of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, executed this crucial operation to address outstanding debt obligations and funnel resources into vital energy and water sector development projects.
Committed to fiscal realism and adhering to the guidelines of the revised finance law (LFR) 2026, the government aims to finalize a program with the International Monetary Fund (FMI). This financial maneuver is a cornerstone of its broader objective to enhance the daily lives of Gabonese households. The success of this initiative has garnered widespread acclaim, resonating positively both domestically and across international spheres.
Speaking on the achievement, Fernando Gimenez, a principal economist at Promeritum, extended his commendations: “On behalf of Promeritum, I wish to congratulate you and your team on the successful eurobond placement. The exceptionally favorable market reception clearly attests to this success. We particularly valued the transparency maintained throughout the process, your readiness to address our inquiries, and your willingness to integrate the observations we presented during our meeting.”
Gabon is clearly moving forward with a well-defined and strategic approach, leaving no room for hesitation. As a key player within the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (Cémac), our country continues to demonstrate its significant appeal to international markets by consistently providing assurances to both investors and financial backers.
