Gabon enhances national security with modern annex for intelligence agency

On August 13, 2026, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema officially inaugurated a cutting-edge annex for the General Directorate of Counter-Espionage and Military Security (DGCISM), commonly referred to as the « B2 ». Located in the Bellevue 1 district of Libreville’s 3rd arrondissement, this state-of-the-art facility represents a significant leap forward in bolstering the nation’s intelligence and security infrastructure.

The new annex, spanning three floors and covering 900 square meters, was meticulously designed to meet the highest standards of confidentiality and operational efficiency. Its strategic layout ensures seamless internal coordination, with the ground floor housing the Judicial Investigations Division, the first floor dedicated to Military Security, and the top floor reserved for the General Directorate.

Modernization applauded by leadership

Colonel Joseph Ondo Be, Director General of the DGCISM, addressed a gathering of civilian and military officials, expressing profound appreciation for the President’s initiative. Describing the annex as a strategic asset, he highlighted its transformative impact on operational conditions for intelligence personnel.

The Colonel also underscored the institution’s commitment to prudent management of this new resource while outlining future ambitions. His vision includes expanding modernization efforts to the main DGCISM headquarters, upgrading provincial branches, and renewing the agency’s vehicle fleet.
