Gabon: 7mp strengthens local roots alongside President Oligui Nguema

Over a 20-day journey spanning all nine provinces of Gabon, Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma, founder and leader of the Parti pour les 7 Merveilles du Peuple Gabonais (7MP), unveiled the outcomes of a mission far beyond mere political outreach. This nationwide tour involved restructuring local branches, recalibrating membership rolls, and deepening the influence of the Mouvement Oligui Nguema 100% (MON 100%), signaling the 7MP’s determination to solidify its position within the presidential majority under the Fifth Republic.

From June 4 to June 23, 2026, Ndzengouma traversed the country, engaging with activists, supporters, local leaders, and communities. The tour’s findings were shared during a press briefing at the 7MP headquarters in Libreville, reflecting a broader strategy to revitalize the party and bolster its alignment with the policies of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Founded in 2010, the 7MP has evolved into a key player in the presidential camp. Meanwhile, the Mouvement Oligui Nguema 100%, launched in February 2025, was established to rally citizens behind the president’s reform agenda and drive national participation in his vision.

Restructuring for stronger political foundations

The tour wasn’t just about dialogue—it was about reshaping the party’s operational backbone. Local structures were overhauled, active membership was recounted, new recruits were registered, local leaders were identified, and provincial coordination was strengthened. The MON 100% movement also leveraged this opportunity to expand its footprint across all nine provinces, aiming to rally more Gabonese citizens behind the president’s reform-driven agenda.

For Ndzengouma, the timing of this effort is critical. With the institutions of the Fifth Republic now in place, the tour served as a platform to reinforce the 7MP’s role as a steadfast ally of the head of state, while reaffirming its commitment to the reforms initiated during the Transition. This initiative is part of a wider movement across Gabon’s political landscape, where multiple parties are racing to secure their territorial presence following the presidential, legislative, and local elections.

Groundwork for long-term political engagement

With the tour concluded, the 7MP has laid out a roadmap for sustained growth: strengthening provincial coordination, increasing community engagement, formalizing the MON 100% structure, and setting up a continuous feedback mechanism to channel public concerns directly to decision-makers.

Beyond organizational gains, this nationwide campaign marks a strategic milestone for the 7MP. It reinforces the party’s integration within the presidential majority while aligning with the Fifth Republic’s political direction. Most importantly, it strengthens the party’s connection with citizens across Gabon, ensuring its voice remains central in shaping the nation’s future.
