First Senate Bureau Established in Benin: Patrice Talon Elected President
The Bénin Senate has officially inaugurated its first Bureau, marking a significant milestone in the establishment of this constitutional institution. The election, held on August 6, 2026, in Porto-Novo, saw senators appoint key officials to guide the upper chamber of Parliament.
Leadership Roles Assigned
The newly elected Senate leadership includes Patrice Talon as President, who will oversee the chamber’s operations and ensure its smooth functioning. Louis Vlavonou has been named Vice-President, tasked with supporting Talon and stepping in during his absence. Alassane Séidou takes on the role of Rapporteur, while Adidjatou Mathys serves as Deputy Rapporteur.
